Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The compensation for tax consulting services, known as reserved tasks, is regulated by the Steuerberatervergütungsverordnung (StBVV). Excluded from the scope of the StBVV are the billing of services provided by tax advisors in the area of agreed activities, such as business consulting. I would be happy to inform you about the fees for tax consulting services in a personal conversation.
In general, one should consult a tax advisor if they feel unsure about tax matters. For most taxpayers, the topic of tax returns raises many question marks. Even the question of which forms are required for their specific case can be daunting. As a tax advisor, I do not only assist in selecting the necessary forms, but also provide personal advice on which expenses can be deducted. I also electronically prepare and submit the income tax return to the tax authority and subsequently review the tax assessment notice for you.
In addition to tax return preparation, I also offer financial accounting and annual financial statement services for companies. Of course, I also accompany clients during tax audits or in appeal or legal proceedings before tax authorities or tax courts.
For any business, financial, grant-related, or tax-related questions, I am available to provide support and serve as a regional contact person who promptly addresses your concerns.
If a client relationship is established, the first two hours of the first tax consultation will not be charged.
In addition, the initial consultation will be billed according to the StBVV.
In general, I need all incoming and outgoing invoices, as well as bank statements and, if available, a copy of the cash book. The bank statements should be arranged chronologically according to the respective bank and accounts. Ultimately, it depends on whether you are required to prepare a balance sheet or determine your profit through an income surplus calculation.
The digital collaboration between the tax firm and the client is carried out via DATEV Meine Steuern (for private individuals) or DATEV Unternehmen Online (for entities). This makes it possible to exchange documents digitally and in compliance with data protection regulations.
Consultation meetings are offered flexibly in terms of time and location as video calls. Documents can also be viewed together through screen sharing.
Email and phone are of course also available.
I am delighted to make time for you and advise you outside of business hours. Upon request, I can also advise you at your location.
Yes, that is possible at any time. You alone decide who you want to entrust with the representation of your tax matters. Due to the professional regulations for tax advisors, the previous advisor is obliged to transfer the necessary data to the new advisor without any problems for entities, provided there are no outstanding fee invoices. A power of attorney signed by you with the name of the new advisor is submitted to the tax authority, so that the information is also available there. For income tax cases, you can provide me with the prepared documents you have.
In addition to monitoring the liquidity of your start-up, there are several other things to keep in mind when starting a new venture. For example, self-employed individuals must pay income tax in advance to the tax authority every quarter. However, these advance payments are often set too low in the first one or two years of the business, resulting in a large tax bill when the annual tax return is filed. As a result, it’s crucial to plan for this eventuality.
Furthermore, there are numerous tasks that the new entrepreneur must handle independently, which were previously taken care of by their former employer. This includes organizing financial accounting, record-keeping, and meeting various legal accounting requirements, as well as taking responsibility for one’s own retirement savings.
