About Julian Thalmeir

I became a licensed Steuerberater because I am genuinely interested in the intersection of national tax systems — and in the real consequences that intersection has for people’s lives. My practice is deliberately focused. I do not try to be everything to everyone. I work with people who have complex, cross-border situations: US, British or any other citizens living in Germany, international entrepreneurs, individuals relocating or emigrating, and high-net-worth clients with assets in multiple jurisdictions.

My working language is German and English. My approach is direct: I will always tell you what I think, even when it is not what you were hoping to hear. I work entirely digitally, which means I can advise clients anywhere in Germany and internationally — not just in Augsburg.

Good international tax advice is proactive, not reactive. Most problems I see in my practice could have been avoided with the right structure at the beginning. My goal is to be the advisor you call before you make the decision — not the one you call when something has already gone wrong.

Kanzlei Thalmeir is a boutique international tax advisory based in Augsburg. The practice was built around a deliberate choice: to handle fewer mandates, each with genuine cross-border complexity, rather than process volume at the expense of depth.
Our clients are internationally mobile — US citizens in Germany, British expatriates, founders with shareholdings across three jurisdictions, families whose assets have never respected a single tax system. The work demands treaty knowledge, not templates.

Every engagement is handled personally, on a fixed-fee basis, with the discretion and availability that these matters require. The guiding idea is straightforward: Peace by Expertise.
